Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component of Chinese medicine and it is the insertion of thin acupuncture needles at different, strategic Acupuncture points in the body. It has been discovered that there are pathways called meridians that run throughout the body. And throughout these meridians, the life energy, known as qi or chi, would flow. When chi or qi becomes disturbed or blocked due to lifestyle or environmental reasons, acupuncture is used to recenter the flow of this life energy. It is believed that by improving the flow of chi, it also improves health.

Some other processes and simulations are also used along with acupuncture such as heat/moxibustion, pressure/acupressure, friction, scraping or Guasha, suction/cupping, and impulses of electromagnetic energy.

Tuina Massage

Tuina Massage

Tuina Massage is designed to help stimulate the flow of chi to promote balance and harmony within the body while using many of the same principles of acupuncture, except the practice enables the use of fingers instead of needles. It is often used along with acupuncture. The philosophy and principles of this certain massage are based on traditional Chinese medicines, focusing on the emotional and physical components of a person’s well being which can include climate, relationships, and diet. The main theory behind Tuina Massage is that “true health is achieved when one has found harmony and balance inside the self and their environment”.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha

‘Gua’ means to scrape while ‘sha’ refers to the redness of the skin. It can also be called skin scraping, spooning, or coining. It is a natural alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve the circulation in the body. By rubbing and scraping the skin, practitioners believe that it will help break the stagnant energy, promote healing, and reduce the inflammation of the skin.

Cupping

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine where a therapist puts special cups on the skin for a few minutes to create suction. These cups can be made from glass, plastic or silicone. The therapy is used to treat inflammation, muscle pain, arthritis, asthma, the common cold, chronic cough, indigestion etc. It helps increase blood flow and decrease inflammation to maintain a healthy system. Cupping also helps with myofascial release.

Cupping therapy helps by releasing toxins, activating the lymphatic system, clearing blockages, activating and clearing the veins, arteries and capillaries, activating the skin etc.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture, facial acupuncture, or acupuncture face-lift. It is the insertion of needles at specific points in the face to reduce signs of aging rather than rebalancing the chi in traditional acupuncture. It was originally used as a treatment for patients with paralysis of facial nerves caused by Bell’s palsy or stroke. It is an extension of traditional acupuncture and focuses not only in the reduction of aging but also helps in the health of the skin.

Cosmetic Acupuncture is used to improve skin and may also stimulate the production of collagen, which decreases as you age, causing the skin to become less supple and firm. A practitioner will insert 40 to 70 thin needles into the skin, which stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory system. This causes the body to send more nutrients, collagen, and oxygen to the skin, evening out the complexion, improve elasticity, and minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.
